In 2017 I filed for divorce and then just needed to stay away from the house and the ex so I decided to take a walk. The walk became a hike. Then I remembered that one time my grandma just walked and walked her way out of depression. The walking felt good and I knew I wanted to continue. So I asked myself if I could walk for 30 days straight. I would call friends up to join me. I did it! I walked 30 days straight. On day 30 I got a little sad that the journey was over…until I realized it didn’t have to be! I could keep hiking. And I did! For 68 days straight! Then I was truly hooked. And I haven’t stopped since. Well. I’ve stopped. I don’t go every day any more. But I am constantly looking for my next hike. Hiking turned into peak bagging which turned into road trips which turned into backpacking and national parks and all the things. I truly found my passion and one of my favorite things is to share my favorite places with new people.
When I go on an adventure I research so much so that the adventure will be amazing. I have backup plans ready…I check weather. I check trail reports. I keep my car ready to go and a bag packed.
When I first started adventuring I would just fly by the seat of my pants. I thought it was exhilarating. But it was really hard to find people who could join me on such a last minute trip without any concrete plans.
I eventually realized that the adventures were so much more fun when I wasn’t having to waste time finding a place to sleep or to find which trails to do…I learned how to research and plan.
I’ve gotten really good at getting permits that are extremely difficult to get.
I want to share my adventures with you and hope to instill in you the desire to adventure. I hope my experience and research will help you be able to plan the very best adventures!
